Bridge

The bridge is where the main Cortex screen is, and has two seats for the pilot and their co-pilot. Main functions can be accessed from either console. Communication, sensors and other ship functions are found on the bridge.

Front Hall

Like most spaceships, the Firefly class tries to put as much use into as little space as possible. The Crew Dorms are accessible by ladder from this Hall which leads down towards the Dining and Kitchen area, with a small lift juryrigged by Tanith for Carla’s chair. The “doors” must be pushed inwards to reveal the ladder and opening beneath.

Kitchen and Dining

Food storage, preparation and consumption all happens here. Everything is shoved as tightly together as it can be, though Shard has somewhat better fare on the table than is usual for most ships of this type. There is a semi-circular seating area to one side aswell for talking and relaxation away from your bunk.

Engine Room

Connected to the rest of the rest by the Back Hall, the Engine Room contains little but pieces of metal and the open-hearted beating machine of the engine itself, which endlessly turns to provide gravity, light, heat, breathable atmosphere and propulsion. Without the engine, a Firefly is helpless. However there are some auxiliary system that may save your life one day.

Crew Dorms

Each Dorm has the essentials for hygiene and sleep, including a fold-away toilet and sink, and a pull-out bed. Or in the case of Jessie, masses of silk and a huge four-poster. But then he does have the biggest bedroom. Each reflects the personality of the crew-member to whom it is their only place where they can have privacy. There is also a very small shower in a few of the rooms, but is not generally used due to the problems of water use onboard ship.

Catwalk

A large metal catwalk lifts above the Cargo Bay and leads to the two shuttles on either side of Shard. Neither are in general use but checked for maintenance for the times they are necessary on jobs and chores.

Air Lock

The air lock sits just beyond the Cargo Bay and is the space between it and the outside. It locks onto other ships, or on the ground a large ramp slides down to offer easy access for both goods, vehicles and people. The air lock doors, therefore, are airtight on both sides. If you have a powerful need to go walking in the Black, you’ll have to go out into the air lock and let it vent before you open the outer doors.

Cargo Bay

Where stuff is kept. The cargo bay is large, flat, and it’s best when it’s full of pricy goods. There are a couple of hideyholes in the cargo bay as well behind that false panel or two, and no doubt a couple more troublesome little nooks. There are large bomb bay doors set into the floor for various reasons and this is an alternative exit or entrance for whatever reason. The cargo bay also has a ceiling crane and tends to be where the land transport vehicle is kept.

Infirmary

This is a smallish room that is kept as clean as possible. If anything from aspirins to field surgery is needed, here is where you will find it. There is a reclining chair, cupboards of medicine (assuming you have the means to stock it), and a directable light for more serious cases. It also has ample working area space for emergency patients beyond the singular.

Passenger Dorms

Passenger dorms have the same sort of amenities as the crew, with perhaps slightly more comfortable beds and they don’t tend to be as individual - considering their occupants live out of a suitcase and whatnot. Sometimes in a larger crew than a Firefly can take, some of these rooms become the defacto permanent living quarters of a crewmember. In that case, they might paint over that pervasive horrible yella colour.
